Looking for an honest portrayal of lesbians is very hard to find.....either in TV or movies. However, there are two books that I highly recommend:
1. A Stone Gone Mad
2. Tipping the Velvet (this is by far my favorite, but whatever you do, please DO NOT watch the BBC miniseries. It is a horrible translation)
On a pure entertainment level, I have to agree that "But I'm a Cheerleader" is great. Also check out "Kissing Jessica Stein" and "When Night is Falling."
p.s. - does anybody know what happened to "Exes & Ohs"....the brief but funny series on Logo????
Loving Annabelle is my favorite. It's a must-see. Also, if you've never seen Fried Green Tomatoes...it has an underlying lesbian theme. Fannie Flagg [[the author of the book]] intended that Idgie and Ruth fell in love with one another. These are two great ones! As far as TV shows...the L Word can't be beat.
Aimee and Jaguar is very good. It's about a lady whose husband is a Nazi officer and she falls in love with a Jewish woman.
Have tissues handy.
Anyone seen Better than Chocolate? Just wondering if it was any good.
I loved Aimee and Jaguar! I started watching it without knowing it was a lesbian-themed movie. Pleasant surprise, but it was very sad.
