Hey I've been looking for any good movies or tv shows about lesbians. There is a decent amount I can find about gay men, but not so much about women. any suggestions?

Genia, if you know how to use bittorrent you can get the 2nd of three parts here: http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/3372550. They don't have part one or three for some reason, but it looks like they used to have part one. I suppose it's better than nothing, and if you keep coming back eventually you will bag the other two parts. Also you have to be okay with plunder and piracy.

I've wanted to see that forever. I'm heading over to OML to see if it's there.

"Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit" was made into a movie by the BBC or something, I borrowed it from the library once.

I just did a review of lesbian women on TV ... at least the ones on my DVR.

Thanks for the article. You know what I find pretty sad is that some of the best lesbian story lines on TV right now are not in the United States. Two instantly come to mind...and they're both on Spanish TV...

Pepa and Silvia from Los Hombres de Paco
http://www.onemorelesbian.com/?s=pepa&searchsubmit.x=0&sear...

The Maca/Esther/Vero love triangle on Hospital Central (way too many clips to watch in one sitting as it has been going on for 3 seasons now...not to mention the Maca/Esther relationship in previous seasons)

http://www.onemorelesbian.com/?s=maca&searchsubmit.x=0&sear...

Here's a little taste, if you don't care to view a few dozen clips...:)

There are also a host of other lesbian characters in various shows that we haven't posted because they don't have English subtitles. Would love to see some substantial lesbian characters and story lines emerge this year in the states...especially with the end of The L Word.

Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit was an interesting movie. Very surreal in some places. I liked it even though it didn't end quite the way I thought it would.

I actually have written the titles down that are mentioned below but have not had much luck finding any of them at a video store except "Better than Chocolate" which I thought was a good movie. If anyone has any suggestions on where to find these movies please let me know I am a little frustrated that the video store only had one of them.

Thanks a bunch

'Tipping the Velvet' both the book and the film (yes, the BBC one) are excellent. Sarah Waters is the author and has written other books ('Fingersmith' & 'Affinity' both of which have been made into films), all lesbian themed and very good.

Aimee and Jaguar is very good. It's about a lady whose husband is a Nazi officer and she falls in love with a Jewish woman.

Have tissues handy.

I agree, though I dont usually enjoy movies with sub titles (i spend more time reading then watching) this is an excellent choice. I recommend a whole box of tissues.

How about a classic? Desert Hearts - now that was one sexy movie. Here is a review I found about it: Review Summary
Director Donna Deitch makes a strong impression in her first feature film, a simple story of a lesbian love affair, based on Jane Rule's 1964 novel Desert of the Heart. Helen Shaver stars as Vivian Bell, an uptight 35-year-old Columbia University professor who travels to Reno to get a divorce. She arrives in Reno on her way to Frances Parker's (Audra Lindley) ranch, where she is staying to establish six weeks of residency in order to obtain the divorce. Once at the ranch, Vivian catches the fancy of Frances's adopted daughter Cay (Patricia Charbonneau), a casino worker ten years younger than herself. Vivien tries to remain unruffled as Cay makes unabashed overtures to her. Cay thinks that all Vivian needs is the love of another woman, and soon enough the two are in each other's arms. ~ Paul Brenner, All Movie Guide. Then, of course there is Personal Best which was pretty steamy for its day and very tame 26 years later.
