Jennifer Beals/Bette Porter
The gay kid on "My So-Called Life"
i love reading all the answers, and there were some great ones! i like the person who mentioned Angelina Jolie in Gia, of course it's one of my favs. I figured a lot of people would say Bette & Shane. I'm going to go with Jeff Lewis from Flipping Out. I love his sarcasm and he entertains me thoroughly.
I have so many favorites; Lucy Diamond from D.E.B.S; sexy and even though she's supposed to be a villian, she's like one of the nicest people
Jack from Will and Grace
Graham from But I'm A Cheerleader; when she first met Megan, she was kind of passsive/aggressive in a way, then she introduced herself as if she didnt care shes like "i'm graham and like girls....a lot." She walks away and winks at Megan........hotness
teena brandon/teena brandon and Lana from Boys Dont Cry....i love it cuz its a true story. and even though Lana knew that he was a girl, she kept referring her as a him. like "dont hurt him!"....then eventually she let herself realize that Brandons' really a girl and that Lana's a lesbian now or something
I was thirteen when Ellen came out. She was the first out lesbian I knew of BUT, my favorite LGBT character is the bisexual character Jack Twist in Brokeback Mountain. I cried the first time I saw the movie. And the second. And the third...
Ellen by a mile!

Without doubt my pick is Queen Latifah playing CleoPatra 'Cleo' Sims in the movie set it off. I love her toughness, and beauty. It is not often you same gender loving women of color in mainstream media and her role in that movie has always stayed with me.
Tough choice, as (happily) there are some really good ones. I'd have to go with Professor Dumbledore of the Harry Potter series. (Although frankly, I think the Quidditch coach at Hogwarts is a total hottie, and suspect she's a butch... wish she'd call me! LOL)
well it's pretty close between "karen" on will and grace and Ellen Degeneres, but since karen's not gay~i don't think, but i wish i guess ellen will do because she's just funny as hell, but watch out 'cause karen's pretty damn funny also~lol~muay to everybody and good luck
Kate Moenig as shane on the 'Lword'
for a skinny chic she is super hot!
Yes! I loved Queen Latifah in that movie. I thought it fit her like a glove - minus the violence.

My all time favorite Gay Tv or Movie character is "Cleopatra 'Cleo' Sims" played by Queen Latifah in the movie "Set it off". The reason Cleo is my favorite character is because she is not only beautiful but she is not very feminine. As a Woman I have never been very feminine (not that I have not wanted to on occasion) but I feel more comfortable in a pair of dickies, tennis shoes, no make up etc. and when I saw that movie for the first time (before I came out) that character made me feel like ~ damn a girl after my own heart. I also loved the way that she was so comfortable with her sexuality that she never thought twice about being who she was. I know the movie as a whole is not for everyone but it was the first image of a Gay character in a movie that made me feel just a little more comfortable about being who I was.
Oh Holiday was a fabUloUs character indeed. I so wanted to be his friend.
