I will follow anyone who follows me, with the exception of:

1. MLMers
2. Mommy bloggers who only tweet about baby products all day
3. Anti-gay folks (of course!)
4. Someone who only posts links to their blog, but never actually converse with other people
5. Someone who follows me, waits for me to follow back, then unfollows me (I knowwhat you're doin'!)

Sometimes I do a search to find people who are tweetin' about things like DOMA and Prop 8. I follow those people because we have similar interests.

I follow those who interest me. Some of the people I follow I've meet through other channels. Like Michael Buckley. I found one of my favorite webcomic creators uses Twitter so I followed him. I also follow the account he setup for the comic. It just depends on my mood and if I like what they have twittered already.

I have a sorted "twit list" of lesbians who actually tweet. If you don't tweet for a long time, I'm probably going to
have to take you off my list, because I want about 100 good friends I know, rather than 3,000 "friends" I don't know.
And trying to sell me stuff, even if it's lesbian paraphenalia, isn't friendly.

I haven't figured it out yet. Some days it gets frustrating and I wonder how everyone else has such a simple time of it. So, I just pop in now and again, waiting for the 'thing' to happen. I don't think this stage will last forever so I'm looking forward to the shift. :-)

So would it be considered improper twit-tiquette to stop following someone after they started following you because they are posting WAY too many updates (like pages of them) and making you a little crazy?

Writers, people who love to read fiction (especially Sci-Fi/Fantasy) -and people who otherwise just seem interesting.

I tend to follow people who share information or news I am interested in. None of this reciprocal following and MLM. My lesbian twitter profile is about being a lesbian and networking with other lesbians.

I follow interesting people/ groups who follow me, people i know (and care about... lol) and generally those with the same interests or who have something worth sharing.
None of the OTT pages of stuff, but not never-twitters either. This being said, they blocked the website in work and it is really frustrating cathing up, so i am not posting as often as i used to.

I'm still figuring things out on twitter because I'm pretty new to it. I've actually blocked a couple of folks who wanted to follow me - just two - but when I went to their page I was creeped out.
If the person is about something that interests me I follow. I found my favorite author on twitter and I'm following her - Nicola Griffith. Also I'm following the man who I hope will be the next Gov of CA Gavin Newsome.

Again I'm a newbie but I don't think it would be improper - as long is there you don't make a nasty comment to them just before you stop following. Maybe it is improper "twit-tiquette" to be posting pages of updates??
